BLUE CHALCEDONY

Introduction

The Blue Chalcedony might have a waxy sheen and while Chalcedony is found in a variety of colours, the blue variant is mostly used in jewellery and aesthetic purposes. Technically, chalcedony is a member of the quartz family of the gemstone. Though, these gems are made up of many microscopic crystals, which bond together and form a new gemstone. Chalcedony is considered as a speaker’s stone since it is believed that this stone belongs to one who measures his words.

The term Chalcedony is derived from the name of an ancient Greek town Chalkedon. Native American Indians believed the gem was a sacred stone and was used in the spiritual ceremonies of the tribe. It is thought to increase vitality, stamina and endurance and to also promote emotional balance and charity while relieving melancholy, fever, gallstones and eye problems.
